Exhaustion Unlimited

The weight of sleeplessness keeps me.

It holds me under, though I plea

for it to let me see the light of day.

The light of day assaults my eyes;

it mocks me from its holy highs,

and I cannot wait for the peace of night.

The peace of night finds me nervous;

quiet does me a disservice.

I’m afraid of the weight of sleep.
