WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a letter to a friend, from the perspective of someone living 100 years in the future.

What commonplace things might they mention that would surprise a reader now, and how can you use these to drive an interesting narrative?

Always Connected

Dear Ryan,

It’s been a while since I’ve wrote last. Please write to me as soon as possible, there is something I’d love to hear your opinion on. Galactic’s here have discovered that since we had to move to another planet, they think it has somehow connected us to the past, to Earth 1.0.

Something about light years and other scientific wording. I’ve wondered for so long how we were able to speak to one another… How our letters always reached.

How’s Lizzy, btw? I know you said they were pretty sure the tumor as cancerous. I wish I could send the medicine we have curated here to successfully combat cancer. Sadly, it seems only paper makes it across the timeline.

I wish we could meet, in the flesh. To share in a moment. But, I know we always share the same moon and sun.

Also, that guy named Saturn? Did you learn more about him and how he exists in both our lives at the same time? … Odd.

Love,

Emma
