Lies….Lies….Lies

So many lies.

Inescapable,

Unwanted,

Destructive lies.

I lie when you text and ask if I’m okay

I lie when you call and tell me about your day and then ask about mine.

I lie to your face without ever meeting your eyes.

Those captivating eyes.

Those eyes that break down every lie.

Those eyes that make me want to cry and confess my crimes.

To look you in your eyes and tell you my truth would be like shining a light on my soul

I’d rather lie.

Lying is so much easier.

Lying saves us from causing so much pain.

Lying is all I can do.

But never to your face.

Never while looking in your eyes.

If I look in your eyes and then I will surely break down.

I can tell you the truth but it would kill me.

I can’t look at you while I tell you my truth because it is so much easier to do so when I can’t see those eyes that hold pity.
