The ignition popped on, and just like that blue flames were licking the bottom of the pot. The water inside stayed still.

Minutes passed, but the flames remained relentless. The water within began to yield. At first, with just a shimmer of change, a slight mist of steam. Then, the bubbles begin to form.

Tiny at first, scattered across the bottom of the pot. Quickly, their numbers grew alongside their size. They began to rise up the sides, creating streaks through their smaller brethren as they speed to the top.

At last, they begin to break through. Sporadically at first, then a flush of bursting bubbles, spewing steam into the air above.

Time to add the noodles.
