Too late

"sooooo...Surprise?"

The blood covered hero wheezed out as his villain looked down and scanned the pathetic scene. Unruly, pale blonde hair framed a heavy freckled tan face. Pale scars covered most places, along with pale brown eyes. Injury graced most places though especially bad on one leg. A playful smile that the hero held wavered as adrenaline began to wear off, that didn't stop the overly-cheerful blonde from trying to make light of the situation,

"Now you get to see my very beautiful face, you know some people pay to se-"

"You're allowed to cry, you know."

The hero flinched slightly, not expecting the harsh tone, though he knew that he should have,

"Par-pardon?"

The villain lowered himself to the cement, ignoring the tearing and broken pieces of rock that covered the ground. The brunet settled onto his knees and took the hero's face into his hands gently,

"You are allowed to cry," Tears, that were expected but never came, at least not from the hero though tears began to fill the villain's still hidden eyes, "I'm sorry I let you get this hurt. To let you in so much danger."

The hero giggled and opened a pale blue eye, choosing to ignore his villain's attempt of projecting onto him,

"Nah, I was the stupid idiot that followed your advise knowing full well that we're still enemies,"

"Why did you follow my advice? Why did you listen?"

"Because I care. I care about you! I have cared about you for a long time, and for a long time I've been hoping to become friends," The hero leaned into his villain's grasp, "And I thought, in my hope, that you were trying to be helpful."

Slowly the villain moved to pull the hero to his chest, cautious of the hero's injuries,

"I don't deserve you. Why did I realize how much I cared too late?"

"Funny, that's just seems to be how things happen," Then, as though no pain was burning at the him, the hero fired up, "Now then let's see, now that you're a good guy now and all, we have a new threat to take care of!"

His villain spluttered,

"What-" The brunet's grasp tightened to prevent any movement from the hero, "First, you are severely injured next, I said nothing about being a 'good' guy and lastly, we were having a moment."

The hero hummed playfully,

"Nope, you're a good guy and my new partner! No arguing," The hero winced as he jolted his, most surely, broken leg, "But you are right about the injured part."

“Quiet child!”

“Well I have a very pretty face that you fell for! And now you have to listen to everything I say.”

“No”
