“I need to tell you something, urgently. It’s about your boss.” John Hammer raked his muscular fingers through his tight cropped hair. Agent DJ O’Neal looked Hammer up and down. Jacked body under an expensive business suit, He looked like a GQ Captain America. But O’Neal knew what was under the surface.

They had tracked the bank records and interviewed the victims many who still believed in the conman. She looked at her partner Rick Diamond and they both stopped and folded their arms.

“I know this sounds crazy but I am an operative in a covert operation headed by the higher echelon of the government. Your boss, the head of the FBI, is working against this secret mission. I’m working with several government agencies and defense manufacturers to achieve a secret mission. I’m just trying to defend the country I love as a soldier and a patriot.”

Hammer glowed with earnestness. O’Neal leaned in as Hammer began to weave his story.

“But you’re not right,” Diamond said, “you were never in the Army. You were never on the battlefield, right.”

The record skipped. Hammer blanched. Then his warm golden glow rebounded.

“Wait of course my military record was scrubbed to cloak my mission. This goes very deep,” Hammer explained.

The light changed. O’Neal shook her head clearing her thoughts. Diamond and O’Neal exchanged looks.

“Sure, sure let’s talk about that escrow account,” O’Neal said.
