Lifeless
The night wasn’t supposed to end with with her small pale body laying lifeless in the field. She was supposed to come home after dinner and fall peacefully asleep, but instead would never return to do so.
I knelt down beside her limp body and gently held her wrist in my hand. There was no pulse. It wasn’t supposed to end like this. Death was not the intention, but only a lesson to show her what she did. I scooped her small body up and walked slowly to my car. I unlocked the door and placed her down on the back seats.
The sun was slowly coming up and I knew her roommate would soon be wondering why she wasn’t home yet.
I hopped into the front seat and turned on the ignition. It was important that I made it before the sun completely rose.
