The Burden of Memory
Write a poem that could have this as its title.
The Burden Of Memory
I forget. Then, in that magical time
Between dream and day
You return to crush me again.
Am I healed?
For in that tiny moment, you’re not there.
You never were, I don’t think of you.
Does grief still hold all the cards,
Because after that quiet pause, you flood my veins?
Or, do I love you less because I forget?
Would love have faded, paths forked, plans forgotten
With new dreams authored by a solo heart?
I remember, not in words, but in hazy pictures, quiet sounds
And daydream of the time when that tiny moment weighs more than you.
