POEM STARTER
‘Whispers that come in the night often carry further than those in the day.’
Write a poem with this as the opening line. What imagery comes to mind from this line – and what further themes could be explored from there?
A Spirit Came To Me
‘Whispers that come in the night often carry further than those in the day’ a spirit says to me.
I listen to the sounds of my four walls that echo back to me, a gentle nudge to understand what i can’t see.
A voice so gentle, welcoming and indifferent.
I must keep them a secret from the outside world; they must remain need hidden.
They’ll look at me with a tilted head, tell me a screws loose in my head… I’m not like all of you.
These whispers channel a response from my intuition, an inherent nature of the feminine, a third eye awakening, a profound discovery that’s ground breaking… I’m not like you, it says.
I hear them. I sense them. I know they’re real. A true experience surreal to the unready eye. It’s beautiful here.
I hear a siren that’s loud beyond the conscious. a higher up that watches over my life telling me to just listen.
Listen. Listen. Listen. Of all things you can do, just listen. To the rhythm. To the instruction. To the sounds of the wind. All of it is happening for you… it’s up to you to swim… with the current or against… just listen.
_I hear myself say “you’re okay_.” The spirit snaps me back awake to say “Yes, my love. It’ll become clearer to you as you live each day that whispers that come in the night often carry further than those in the day. You will understand more if you pray”
