In the quaint village of Luton Hollow, there are two different kinds of people: The mages, possessing magical abilities from the day they are born into this world, and the commoners, the ones born ordinary, without a drop of magic in their blood.

These two groups coexist amongst each other in somewhat of a harmony. They greet each other with gentle smiles and nods, demonstrating basic human decency towards one another.

But when it comes to romantic relationships, that is where the mages draw the line. Commoners have no right to taint their unique bloodlines.

The last intermixed relationship was sixty five years ago. A female mage and a male commoner. Their love was like a moonflower, passionate and free when the world was asleep. But, on one fateful day, their secret slipped out, and the two were sent to hang.

Love between two different classes will forever be forbidden in the village of Luton Hollow, for as long as the people shall allow it.
