STORY STARTER

Submitted by soup

One day, an author wakes up in his own fantasy horror story. Fortunately, he knows exactly how to defeat the horrible entity lurking in this realm. Unfortunately…

Trust.

The monster approaches and I aim my trusty hairdryer at it.

One press of the button will send the glowing particles at it and shred the beast to ribbons, and I do just that -

Nothing happens. My heart plummets as the towering beast with red eyes sneers at me, multiple claws outstretched.

“Easy, man. I cut the wire this time.” Comes from its slathering jowls.

The hairdryer clunks as it hits the floor.

“This is a time loop of your own design.” The monster says, picking up the hairdryer and tossing it to the side. It shatters against the wall.

“Every time you kill me it starts over.”

I can’t move my legs as the beast explains.

“You forget everything, but I don’t. I learned to talk during the times you were making that thing -“ it gestures at what used to be the hairdryer. “- and I think I know a way out.”

“Why-“

“Should you trust me?” The monster then sneers a strange sneer, and I realise it’s trying to smile.

“Because you don’t have a choice.”
