A Rose

It was filled with bitter romance

Petals from a velvet rose

Thorns to keep you far

But hook you when your close

Sour taste when it’s bitten

If you didn’t know the difference

Between loving and consuming

So it keeps you at a distance

It’s dissonant, relentless

Tugging at your tension

Mentioning this conflicition

Will not bring it to repention

It’s a constant repition

On an in and out ignition

To never stop its mission

Because the toxins from your bite

Will flood your intuition

It’s an issue alright

But you hate that you won’t fix it

Because if you stopped your hate

Your love will start miss it

So the fuel to your engine

Is a an issue you won’t mention

Until the rose dies

And it’s buried where two lovers left it.
