This Empty Hand

She didn’t know what went wrong. One minute she was holding the hands of a man she would marry and live happily for the rest of her life. The next his hand was snatched away by another woman who could offer more then she ever hoped she could. Lily begged and pleaded to get him back. He refused. Jack loved the other woman more then the one he once held hands with. Jack just looked at her, took out her heart that he once held so tenderly. Filled with hope, love and affection. Then crushing it with his barehands. Leaving nothing but shards that she has to pick up and put together while he set off with someone better.

Lily walked down the beach near the waters shore. Where her and Jack once held hands and strolled down with the water touching their bare feet against the sand, millions of times. Now she strolled alone. She stopped, place her empty hand against her chest. Feeling her heart break all over again. Tears pour down her face. Silent sobs passed her lips and she slowly kneeled down into the sand. “Why? Why her?” She asked herself. “Why was I not enough?!” She yelled. Tears upon tears pour down her face as she let out her pain.

Lily laid down, her white wedding dress getting dirty and wet from the sand and water but she didn’t care. She laid out her hands on the side of her head. Imaging her Jack filling them with his strong, warm, gentle ones. As she curled her fingers like she was about to hold his and never let go, all she felt was open air and her own fingers curling in on herself. She screamed as the heartbreak was too much to bare.
