“It is happening,” I grinned. “It is time.”

Screams of terror engulfs the young boy as I appear in his sight. I am usually more patient, but I wait for no one, especially not tonight.

Darkness fills the child’s eyes while his soul detaches and becomes uplifted from his body.

Smiling down at the horrified face, I bring him to my home.

“Sit with me for a while,” I whisper.

We have until sunrise.”

“Who are you?” the child whispered so softly while his eyes dart around the bench.

“You ask this every Halloween,” I chuckled.

“I’m your friend.”
