She’s sat across from me, phone out and earbuds in.

Our walk to the train station is filled with quiet conversation but on the commute she likes having time for herself — not that I mind though, I’m quite fond of the view.

I see her smirk. Eyes closed and lips upturned in anticipation. A glance tells me what’s next — a Carly Rae Jepsen song.

_And then she comes alive._

It’s subtle at first. A slight nod as the song starts. Her lips part slightly, whispering the lyrics to herself. Her forehead scrunches as the beat picks up and you see on her face the world disappear.

Shoulders swaying, she’s lost in herself. The rhythmic rise and fall of her torso dancing in tune to an inaudible beat. Fingers snapping. Toes tapping. I am enamored.

She tilts her head back and I see her mouth the words.
