POEM STARTER
Confession.
Write a poem, with a set structure, which centres around the theme of confession.
How to Confess
When you enter your personal hell of shame and guilt,
you can stand in front of the eye and look down to your feet.
Be humble, O’fellow man! Your words of falsehoods at a tilt,
and the truth spears through, taking no defeat.
So say aloud your sins, come clean and absolve yourself!
Come and free yourself, why shackle yourself to such a feeling?
A confession halves the sin for the one awaiting to better themselves.
So come true and remorseful. Come kneeling and come with your mind reeling,
Guilt, regret, shame
The eye stares ahead
awaiting for a finger to be lifted
but remain on your knees
scrapped and bruised
Be true, and do not
speak another lie.
The eye desires
only the truth
Speak aloud, bellow out your regret,
Take the step—your soul’s debt is met.
