The Clearing

The woods were dark

With obstacles abound,

Sticks and leaves crunching,

A loud warning sound.

WIth breath coming quickly,

And hearts beating in time,

Hooves flying lightly,

And leaping around.

Faster and faster,

In leaps and bounds.

Ahead was some light,

A clearing was found.

Quickly approaching,

The light growing stronger,

Beginning the encroaching,

Of the dark, safe trees.

The crowds were erupting,

With excited cries

Buzzing and anticipating,

The approaching beast.

Mane flying wildly,

The last jump appears.

Over and off again,

The finish line nears.

With task complete,

They begin to slow down,

And revel in the teamwork,

Only the bravest have found
