Floating…or Not? No, We Are.
I grabbed my sister’s hand, pulling her toward the edge of the cliff. She nods slowly then, we take a leap of faith into the darkness. She gives me the look of, “what the hell did we just do?” As if I read her mind, I shrugged. She groaned and we suddenly stop falling.
“What the frickidy frack!?” I yell. We were floating. Mid air. I look at her, extremely scared.
“Shh! I’m trying to figure out if I’m alive right now.”
“No girl, you’re dreaming!”
“Am I?” She pinches herself. “Okay, I don’t think I am.” She thinks for a moment. “Then are we dead?”
“Are we!?”
“I dunno, are we?” She asks.
“Are we…?” I ask back.
“Anyway, why are floating anyway? Didn’t we jump off a cliff?” I nodded. “It was a retorical question,” she says, slightly annoyed.
“Wait but-“
“Hush child,” she interrupts.
“I’m 17-!”
“Still younger than me. Oh, and technically still a legal child.”
“Ugh! You’re so annoying!”
“Says you.”
“Mhm, says me,” I snap. I felt around the air. My finger got caught in something. I looked down to see a…a fishing net…. What the? I looked at where my sister was. It wasn’t there for her, only for me.
“Uhm…hey you know…”
“Nahhhhh really!? I already know dude, that’s why I’m teying to figure out if I’m dreaming!” She’s too observant for her own good….
I blinked and found myself in my bedroom. I went to knock on my sister’s door. She opened and asked me if I had the same “dream” as her. I nodded and we both fell silent. Absolutely silent. Well for now, this mystery will go unsolved.
