WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a difficult conversation between two characters without using any dialogue tags.

Dialogue tags describe the speech - 'he whispered', 'she murmered', 'they said' etc. Removing these indicators will encourage you to make the dialogue speak for itself, instead of relying on tags to describe and clarify the intent behind the words.

Dialogue

“Don’t touch that.” “Sorry.” “Don’t be sorry, just don’t do it again.” “Okay. I won’t.” “Good. Can you hold still?” “Why?” “Because I said.” “Bossy.” “Excuse me?” “I said—You’re bossy.” “And you’re Contrary.” “Overbearing.” “Indignant.” “Entitled.” “Ignorant.” “Self absorbed.” “You lose.” “What, how?” “Self absorbed is two words.” “Fastidious.” “Good word, but you still lose.” “Did I though?” “Hey! I said don’t touch that!”
