Cancer’s Return
Explosions from the battlefield caught trees ablaze, and the smoke began clouding the air around the castle. The ground shook beneath the juggernaut's feet.
Juan opened his pocket dimension as Libra formed a chrysalis around Pisces. They heard Cancer's voice behind them. "Was something left unfinished?"
Turning, they saw Cancer, in full health and dressed in clean robes. "Cancer," they said, "this is Gemini and Libra. We're in a triune battle form with Bucephalus the Giant. The Guild is corrupt; Aquarius is trying to destroy us so he can continue genocide in Cuahalan. Aries and Taurus are fighting at his side, as was Pisces before she fell. We need you to come with us to recruit your sons from refuge in Cuahalan and liberate that country."
Cancer shook his head. "I was at peace. There was nothing of me; I was one with all. I stepped out of the cauldron to find my best friend's dead body." He sighed. "As sorrowful as this all is, it needs to be done. Put me where I need to be."
Juan said, "I'm sorry, my friend. Will you step into my pocket dimension with Pisces' chrysalis until the battle is finished? You'll be safe. Unless I die, in which case you'll be trapped forever."
"You're not going to die, Gemini. You've become as ruthless as any of them now." Cancer said, running his hand across the chrysalis. "We must do what needs to be done." Cancer lifted the Chrysalis easily and walked into the pocket dimension.
"Thank you," Juan said solemnly as he closed the dimension.
Libra reached out to Scorpio's mind. "Cancer has been resurrected. We need you to leave the battlefield, descend to Anwyn undersea, and lead Abaddon into Anwyn's garden to destroy Aquarius' army."
"God's blood, is there no end to your sacrilege?" Scorpio shouted into the triune mind. "I mean ... fine, I understand, it's what needs to happen. I'm on my way." They saw Scorpio's eagle battle form streak past them, then descend and dissipate as the woman entered the castle at a full run.
The juggernaut and returned to the battlefield. Sagittarius had summoned an army of centaurs with spears and bows to fight alongside him, and they were in pitched battle with the legion.
Leo was trapped between Taurus and Aries' horns on either side, his claws dug into Aries back. The juggernaut blazed towards them and catching Taurus around the neck. The bull toppled backwards, crashing into blazing trees.
The freed Leo now sunk his jaws into Aries, causing the ram to scream in pain, because the damage done to the energy form was felt bodily by the wielder. The three turned to Taurus, back on his feet and running headlong into them.
The three leapt to the side as the bull rushed past, acting the part of the matador. Before Taurus could charge again, the three grabbed him by the horns and smashed him into the ground, flames charring Taurus' head and blackening the grass beneath him.
Suddenly, a gush of water blanketed the field. The fires around them hissed as they were extinguished, with a huge cloud of steam. The fighters stopped and looked around them. All was quiet on the battlefield.
Rushing wind and waters were all they heard, before tremendous crashes deafened them. The juggernaut stood next to Leo and Sagittarius. Aries and Taurus got to their feet.
Impossibly, a wave a mile high was approaching them on land. As it came closer, a voice louder than anything they've ever heard came to their ears. "Stand down. This is Aquarius. None of you has witnessed my tsunami form and the destruction and death I may wreak. Surrender or I drown this entire realm."
"You can kill us but you won't stop us!" The three called out. "We've already sent our people to liberate Cuahalan!"
A mirthless, terrifying laugh came from the water. "Do you mean the people hiding in the mineshaft beneath the wreckage of the Giant's home? Surely you realize they'll drown when I flood this place."
