Burning

I am in fire

Red hot

And falling apart

My bones ache

My head is in agony

And my heart has shattered,

Like a glass vase surrounded by lions

What he did to me I can never forgive

He threw me away like an old tin can

He hurt me to the point of no return

As if he threw me in a fire and left me there to burn

But they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger

And they say the grass is always greener on the other side

So I’ll rise out of the pain

And I’ll rise out of the anger

He’ll see a new version of me

And so will everyone else

A version that knows who she is

And a version who doesn’t let anyone tell her what she can and can and can’t be

A version that is strong and powerful and beautiful

So I guess the only thing left to say is,
