You Never Asked, But…

You caught me,

In the ways I smelled extra strong,

And In the ways I held you looser.

You would smile a sweet smile,

Go out with the girls,

And when you came home,

You would hug me so tightly saying how you loved me,

And you knew.

You washed our sheets and my clothes,

Finding evidence of infidelity.

I‘m not asking for forgiveness,

I‘m sure it killed you.

But when it was the last time going out,

And you hugged me,

My heart broke.

You knew, and I knew, and we both knew it was over,

You never asked, but you still loved me.

And in the way the grapes sour,

I loved you too, just never the same.
