The Traveling Medicine Man
A man was walking up the steps of a lonely city in Italy. He carried a large backpack and smelled of weeds. He claimed to be the Medicine Man and only sells medicine to those who need it.
He was a very common sight in this little town. People actually bought his wares, only to come back to him very dissatisfied with what they got. The rosemary, said to cure headaches barely helped. And less we say of the poison ivy incident the better.
This man was a con artist. He only got money from whatever bloke he can trick. Most of his wares were high price as well. A simple lavender seed for the equivalent price of 20 dollars. He claimed that the reason the items were so expensive was because they were grown in “Heaven”.
The townspeople knew he was lying and chased him away every single time he comes near. Not that this has stopped the con man in any way. He would still trick children of their money and by the time the parents find out, he’s already gone.
There was no way to stop this man. The townspeople tried telling their kids not to talk to strangers but that never works. The children still get fooled and all the money goes to the man.
It was a cycle that continued for many years. Even when the man was found dead, the rumors still persisted about him. The folks considered it to be a warning of all the bad people that exist in life. Never take advantage to your money.
Needless to say, the man will continue to live on as a rumor. Even in death he can’t escape the hatred the townspeople had.
