Soft, Silky Distraction

A ravishing woman walked by me today. Behind her, chaos followed, in the form of three loud children, who claimed her as ‘Mom’. I was spooked when I heard her voice, it was so smooth.

“Guys let’s get the soup and go, come on.”

So smooth, in fact, I could barely make out the words, but it didn’t matter, it seemed like she was talking to the children.

“Excuse me, could I get that can please?” She said.

I was interrupted in my mind as her hand reached behind my head to grab a can of chicken noodle soup—my favorite. Her laugh was awkward, but her smile was still smooth as silk. Astonished by the pure kindness, I smiled back with pink cheeks.
