POEM STARTER
Using twelve stanzas, write a poem about each month of the year.
Seasons Greetings
January,
winter winds flow hope into new years
Barren trees, spreading fears
What may their branches bloom?
Time will tell, though not soon.
February
Bittersweet love blossoms in the night
Kindred spirits, love at first sight
Lonely souls, yearning for candy-coated lies.
Love-soaked desires, just thorns disguised.
March
Life begins to rustle awake from winters sleep.
New eyes flutter open to peep
Natures promise, she always keeps
April
Rainy days, so they say
Life continues on as may
Budding love makes a way
That's all I have for today
May
Flowers fresh from Aprils rain
Bold and bright petals, the bud could not contain
Burst through the ground without delay
Just in time for mothers day
June
Temperutes rise, a lover sighs
Moonlit desires laced with lies
Sun-kissed memories
Lost in the sand
July
Summer fun etched in sand
Beneath boardwalks, and in every hot dog stand
Ferris wheels next to roaring waves
Burning passions begging to misbehave
August
Night gave way to endless day
A blazing sun with nothing to say.
Impatiently awaiting falls ebbing mist
With sweltering bliss
September
Nature blows kisses of breeze
School days begin
Ending summer with a freeze
Fall will soon come again
October
Black cats, witches and trolls.
Leafs of gold, and midnight strolls.
Cozy sweaters threaded with care
Fall arriving, floating through the air
November
Crisp winds whisk leaves to the ground
Scattered carpets of orange, yellow and brown
Families gather, around the table to share
Food and family everywhere
December
Cobbled streets dusted with sparkling white
Spiced scented memories decorated with lights
Snowflakes floating through the nights
Just for now, all is right
