Today

This is such a dark question. It makes me think of soldiers at the front. Or even of a very grim hostage situation where people are imprisoned or POWs. My mind goes back to the Hanoi Hilton and remembering the story of how the tree and walking around it meant everything to them. Then later reading studies that show how important nature and exposure to it matters to our wellbeing. I wonder sometimes if living in a city isn’t the greatest idea in the world. But yet there are trees. I notice them appreciate them and love them. Right now everything is all frothy pink and white blossoms. It’s all so magical. Cherry blossoms everywhere. The botanical gardens. The tulips. I don’t remember spring in New York ever being like this. There are times when I remember beauty and colors and flowers and times when I know that there must have been something of the same but somehow I have no recollection of anything significant from that period. Remembering the TS Eliot quote to come back to the place you started and see it again for the very first time. Beginners mind. Lois talking about seeing the world through 17 year old eyes.
