Can you keep a secret?

One that is true, through and through.

One that is the doorway to the heart

where only a few people can pass.

It is not a big one as you can see,

but it is very dear to me.

It has been with me daily and I do not want it

to be part of the latest news flash.

So can you keep a secret? Just one between you and me.

No response? not a sound? Have I been found?

An answer is what I need, that is all that I ask? Or are you busy with your next task?

Do I need to tell you? Before you give me

your word?

Can’t you tell already what the secret is? I tell you every day this secret in my head. Or do you try to play it off like your dead?

Suddenly, there is movement and something brushes my face.

A sudden nick or is it a lick? I could not tell? As I almost fell.

A soft whisper is heard, right by my ear. Is it my answer? Can you keep a secret?

Yes? No? A single word response is heard. Again the answer…. is “Meow!”
