The Beauty of Being Asleep
Write a poem which could have this as its title.
The Beauty of Being Asleep
In the hour of midnight,
My eyes are closed,
As my breathing deepens,
Sleep, my dear sleep,
While the world keeps turning,
A train horn blows,
The house creaks and pops
with no explanation,
My clock ticks and tocks,
As I am oblivious to reality
In my cocoon,
The usual pain and worries
Are far away from me now,
At least temporarily,
While I rest my mind and soul,
Muses and angels visit my dreams,
Maybe to remind me
that life is lovely, beautuful,
To restore my heart,
that becomes Tattered by life’s rough edges,
Don’t wake me yet-
I’m not ready to depart
From this ethereal dream
Leave if you must,
But let me sleep.
