The failed proposal

“I think I just met the happiest person in the world!” “Oh really?” I said, looking up from by phone. “And who might that be?” “Well,” He said, looking smug,” It’s the girl I’m about to marry. She’s just so beautiful, amazing, and perfect in every possible way.” I felt my heart drop in my chest. He said I was his. But after this confession, that wasn’t possible.

I got up, ready to storm off. “And just where do you think you’re going, darling?” he asked, almost daringly. “Away from you,” I hissed. “Hey, what’s with this attitude?” “Are you serious right now!” I yelled. “You literally just told me that you’re engaged!” He looked at me and bursted out laughing.

Unbelievable. First, he cheats on me, and now this. “Oh, love, you are a very slow person,” he said, a smile across his face. He got down on one knee. “Oh,” was all that I could muster. “Will you marry me, my darling?” “Do you promise there isn’t another girl,” I heard myself say. “Love, I swear, there never was another girl. I was just trying to surprise you, not upset you.” If that was truly the case, I already knew my answer. “Then, yes. I would be thrilled to my your wife.”
