I See It
These surrounding things
These every day, all the time things
A flash of yellow in the midst of green
A scaley blue in a sea of purple
Will it beckon you to come with
Or will it push you back out and make you swim
Over the years it gets harder to tell everything apart
But the color is always there
A kiss of red on a cheek before work
The rustic brown violin that plays on the corner every Thursday
At night when you hear the gray owl
In the morning when you hear the white speckled loon
It greets you here and over there and it is every day
It is, the blushing pink cheeks of flirting
The shiny rock-like shimmer of desire
It is a slippery, oily, black puddle full of venomous snakes and gasoline sitting on tar that is too hot
I can walk across the street right now and see the colors swirl
Paintbrushes dancing over black and white satin
I can look up and over and out or even close my eyes and listen
Over and over again and I will dance with them
I will laugh and I will play with them
Until I simply cannot bear it anymore
