POEM STARTER

Inspired by Jewelie Rain

Write a poem that transitions through two or more of the seven stages of grief: denial, bargaining, anger, depression, loss of self, reflection, and acceptance.

Yet She’s Gone

Hold her hand

Yet it’s gone stiff

Pull her back

Yet she’s gone still

Shout in her ear

Yet she’s gone deaf

Touch her hair

Yet she’s gone numb

Tell who your name

Yet it’s gone unremembered

Look into her eyes

Yet she’s gone blind

Fall asleep

Yet she’s gone
