A Fluttering Moment

“Two giant skylights pouring in beams of sun like rays straight from heaven, and I swear I heard a harp plucking the “Hallelujah Chorus” (Chaotic Good by Whitney Gardener)

“Two giant skylights pouring in beams of sun like rays straight from heaven, and I swear I heard a harp plucking the “Hallelujah Chorus.” My heart fluttered. She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen. The light of the skylights hit her face and made her brown eyes sparkle. She turned my way and looked me dead in the eyes. My stomach lurched. Her eyes softened and she paced the room over to where I stood. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand. *Oh no,* I thought, *quick! Run away! Hide!*

“Hi there.” Her sweet voice called as she stopped in front of me.

“H-h-h-hi.” I stuttered. Even her soft blinks sent me into a panic of emotions. Her eyes looked down to my shoes and slowly up my body until she reached my eyes. She looked back down to my skirt. I felt like my heart was jumping from my chest.

“I love your skirt.” She said, pointing to my pink, purple, and blue skirt. It matched with the little bisexual pride pin on my jacket.

“Th-thanks!” I smiled shyly. Then she stuck out her hand and in her hand was a baby pink paper that had numbers written all over it. It was a phone number! I took the paper and turned around to get my phone from my bag on the ground. When I turned back around, she was gone, leaving a fluttery feeling in my chest.
