POEM STARTER
Write a blank verse poem on a topic that's important to you.
Blank verse poetry doesn't rhyme, but has a very strict structure which builds a melody through rhythm. (One way to create this is to structure each line with the same amount of syllables, and the same syllabic stresses, like you might if you were writing the verses of a song.)
Endless Days, Endless Nights
I’m tired, I’m worn, I’m running on low,
Stuck in a cycle with nowhere to go.
The work keeps piling, the days feel the same,
No motivation, just stress in my brain.
My grades are slipping, I watch them fall,
I try to catch up but can’t do it all.
I sit with my books, but the words fade away,
No focus, no drive, just wasting the day.
I want to do better, I want to be strong,
But everything lately just feels so wrong.
Maybe tomorrow, the weight will be light,
But for now, I’m just trying to make it through night.
