Destination Nowhere Part 3
DIARY ENTRY #3
Date: October 18
Days gone: 0.75
I got approximately nowhere. It’s 8:00 PM now and I’ve been walking all day. I’m so tired I could fall over. I took some breaks to rest and drink water, but I’ve walked about 20 miles, so my Fitbit says. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, but I know it’s not far enough. I wanna go on a real adventure, not wander just to the outskirts of my town.
I started walking into the woods as the sun was setting. Now it’s dark and a little bit scary but, eh what’s life without risk? I’m leaning up against a tree, wrapped in a cozy blanket. I dared to eat a granola bar once I got settled and now I’m just writing by flashlight. I powered on my phone real quick to check the GPS to make sure I was heading AWAY from home and not towards it by mistake. When I did, I also happened to notice that there wasn’t a single missed text or call.
I’d made it nearly a whole day without anyone realizing I was gone. I smile at the thought but a tear rolls down my cheek nonetheless. Not one single person thought about me all day. I sigh deeply and wriggle against the tree to get comfy. Tomorrow, the plan is to walk a little farther, then maybe do something fun like hike a mountain or jump into a river and sing to the birds. I’m off to get some rest and I’ll update you tomorrow morning.
I hope there aren’t too many animals in these woods.
Peace and love,
Nala
