WRITING OBSTACLE

Write a Christmas story in less than 10 sentences.

My Christmas

I wake up and just stare at the ceiling, too tired to get up. But then I remember what day it is, and I’m filled with energy as I run to my sister’s room. Together, we go wake up Mom, and we run over to the tree, putting presents in piles in front of chairs, ready to be opened. I’m already snacking on candy from my sister’s stocking, and she’s snacking on some from mine. It’s the exact same candy, but for some reason we ended up swapping. I start reading the first few pages of a book I unwrap before remembering I have the other presents to open, filled with dresses and legos and a little cat statue. Once all the presents are open, Mom grabs the cheeseball and cider, I grab the triscuts, and my sister and I start telling the story of the Cat of Truth. That’s what we started calling the statue. And while it was the smallest and likely the least expensive present I got, it was my favorite. Because it’s the one that made my sister smile and laugh the most.
