Today Was Different.

Magic always seemed to be a beautiful miracle; an unnatural yet brilliant sight.

However,disturbing nature can be a dangerous risk…

It was a tranquil morning with the gorgeous sun rising on the horizon, when I woke up to a blaring alarm.I jolted up and crawled out of my pit, stretching,in hopes to gain some liveliness to myself. My mum barges through the splintered door, screeching to “Wake up!”

“I’m already awake mum”,I blatantly stated.

“Oh that’s unlike you, you’re usually still busy catching flies”,she laughed to herself.

“Well today feels different”I rejoiced in a hopeful manner.

The school bell rang out for the start of the day,and each child came rushing towards the entrance in desperate attempts to avoid getting a late mark.I was always late, but not today, today felt different,so I sprinted through the crowd and reached the front.I wasn’t late.

“Hey bestie!,I cried out to my favourite person,

“Hey.”she replied in a somber tone.

“What’s wrong?”i inquired with a hint of concern.

“I’m sorry!”,she broke down into tears and I held her in my arms in the empty corridors, everyone else had already gone to class.”Why?What did you do?”I begged for an answer to my curiosities.

“I kissed him.”

“Who?”

“HIM.”

“How dare you?”,i shrieked a few octaves higher than usual,”Why? Why did you do it?”i asked,as a single salty tear streamed down my broken expression.

“…”she didn’t answer,because she didn’t know the answer.

“I hate you!”I squealed, and I ran,out the huge wooden doors of the school and across the faded playground floor.

“Wait!”she chased after me,both our visions blurred by our tears.

“Explain.”,I replied as I stopped in the middle of the road,”What could possibly excuse what you did?.

“I shouldn’t have I’m so-“

My limp body hurdled across the bloodied gravel, and the driver drove away in a panic.

Well,today was different.

“No! Noooo!”she screamed at the top of her lungs. She ran to me and grabbed my twisted wrist and it fell out of her hand as she felt the lack of pulse that remained in my body.

“No! I wish she hadn’t died,it’s all my fault!”

Just then an awkward blue man appeared from thin air, with his hands clasped together and his attire showered in antique jewels.”I can help”

“How?”,she questioned and a glimmer of hope sparkled in her eyes.”with magic.”

Without hesitation she replied “yes”.

“Magic comes with a price, are you willing to pay?

A single word was uttered from her mouth.

“Yes.”

I woke with my eyes clouded,today felt different.But what I didn’t know was,I awoke but…

She didn’t.
