POEM STARTER
Write a poem from the perspective of an elderly person about the topic of their inner child.
Old And Free
Oh, how the days drown in the sunset.
There was a time I looked the sunset for hours.
But now the chilid in me is resting its head,
The burdens of life finally chatching up.
But I don’t feel old.
I feel young.
I stood up and walked down the stairs,
I went shopping and bought only ice cream,
I tried on cheap clothing and bought everything I liked,
I ran in the rain and got soaked,
I sipped wine in a hot bath with cucumbers on my face,
I watched every Harry Potter movie in one night and drank coffee in the morning,
I went to a play and laughed out loud not caring who hears me,
I realised at some point the chilid in me woke and my spirits with it.
I am now that old lady that will give you the best advice at one am in the McDonald’s bathrooms,
I am the old lady who just doesn’t care.
And I love it.
