The Last Breath
I stood still in the cold, it was a silent night, my prom date was Dave. He decided it would be fun to ditch the prom and explore the cemetery, I disagreed but he kept pushing to the point that I finally obliged. So there I was standing in the cemetery. I had lost Dave, of course he wondered off. He probably went to go goof off and climb on some grave stones. I studied the Erie graves, I hoped nothing would crawl out of it and pull me under ground.
But the sound of footsteps behind me broke the silence in the air, I bundled up tighter and took a deep gulp. My prom dress was waving in the wind and my shoes had a bit of dirt on them. I turned my head a little bit kept my eyes set on the cracked and dirty graves
“D-Dave....this isn’t funny I want to go home.” I said, my voice sounded small and weak. A small laugh came from behind me and I felt a sudden pounding pain on the back of my head. I fell onto the muddy ground dazed, my eyes fought to remain open and tried to make out what happened.
Dave stood there in his emerald green suit and his tie was hung around his neck, he was leaning into a shovel and had a huge smile on his face. The world was slowly going dizzy and everything seemed to start melting away. He lifted the shovel again, I chocked out a little ‘no’ but he didn’t seem to care, he drove the shovel straight into my back and everything thing went limp, my body laid cold and alone in the wet grass.
