Her eyes

She stares at me with the brightest eyes and the warmest smile. I can’t take it, she barely knows me, yet her eyes say otherwise. She grabs my hand and tells me she loves me with those eyes. It’s always her eyes, they speak to me more than anything. Maybe it’s the alcohol but her eyes look almost like they are her heart. They are her mind. They are her mouth.

“I’ve never met anyone like you before” she tells me.

“Be grateful for that” I can’t help but frown with guilt.

“Why is that?” She says without any sign of regret of her words.

“You don’t know the person I am. I’m an asshole, I’m selfish, I hurt everyone I love, and I’ll hurt you.” I feel like I should cry, but I can’t.

“I’ll take the pain, whatever you want you can have, and your anything but an asshole, you’ve done nothing to prove that.” For once, her eyes look at me with complete seriousness.

Immediately without anytime to thing or stop it. I’m crying. I cry like I never have. My tears blur my vision, but I can still see her eyes guiding my blinded eyes to her, and I kiss her. And it makes me cry more, but not out of sadness. I don’t know why, but god. I yearn to cry like this again.
