COMPETITION PROMPT

Create a poem from the perspective of someone who finds themself alone, at the end of the universe.

I Am A Million Stars

The warmth of a lifetime lived with love

Cocoons my failing mind

The memories drift like flakes of snow

Precious but left behind

My body, withered, frail and worn

Has swayed it’s final dance

Now foetal limbs, curl once again

As I float in to the expanse

Emptiness becomes a reality

As infinity unravels it’s core

I am everything, but also nothing

I am rich, but also poor

My naked heart no longer beats

My blood has ceased to ebb

But the pulsating drum of the universe

Has caught me in it’s web

I am a million stars, you see

I’m the moon and sun and sky

I’m not gone, I’m here, but I am free

I’m everywhere, I didn’t die!
