POEM STARTER

Inspired by A. Canvas

Write an Oulipo poem about winter. Oulipo poetry is written by setting strict rules for yourself. These rules are up to you, but the goal is to give yourself a challenge.

Be sure to list the rules you followed to inspire and create new forms!

Winter

I know I kinda cheated with the numbers to start the ears but oh well. I lost it a bit at the end but I hope

Snow,

Snow’

Snow,

Wind

And

Snow.

It has started,

It’s earlier this year.

Mama says it’ll be harder,

The food will get scarce soon.

All our friends will leave now,

And so will everything else.

I bring her a few seeds,

I bring her a few nuts,

I want to help her.

She says I’m too small.

Mama says I should stay home.

She fears I’ll get too cold outside

But it’s too hard to stay inside alone.

All my brothers and all my sisters help.

They’re all biger and stronger then I am.

She says she fears for there safety too.

It’s easy to be scareder in the darkness

It’s easy to follow them outside instead.

Never too far. The wind so sharp now.

It’s hard to fear for myself

I know we’ll be ok. Mama always looks after us.

She digs us deep burrows and keeps us warm.

I want to doo that too, I hope she is proud of me.
