Dancing In The Rain
Your hand on my waist.
My heart pounding like it’s in a race.
Impossibilities I know we can face.
That’s what I feel.
Dancing in the rain.
We sway, slowly, softly.
Gently, you ease your hands off me.
The cold of the night envelops me.
Dancing in the rain.
You whisper a quick goodnight.
I won’t let you leave without a fight.
You assure me I have no reason to fright.
Dancing in the rain.
I watch you quietly walk away.
Of course, I knew, you couldn’t stay.
But, I guess I could always pray.
Dancing in the rain.
I sit and stare at the sky.
Stars hidden behind clouds, way up high.
The rain falls and I let out a sigh.
Sitting in the rain.
Contentment I seem to have obtained.
With you I truly have no reason to complain.
So I guess I’ll just be here,
Sitting in the rain.
