Cupid… You Made A Mistake.
Everyone knows that one day a year on Valentine’s Day you have a chance to find you r soul mate. Everybody has a special mark on their hand that shows up that day, and you have to try and find your perfect match. This year it was my turn since I had just turned eighteen last month.
The mark showed up early in the morning, a pinkish redish colored heart with an arrow through it.
Since this was a once a year thing my town made a BIG deal about it, and everyone old enough had to come to the town square to find their soul mates.
Walking around the square aimlessly glancing at the hands of people my age. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Until I see it, the same marking I have on my hand. A pinkish redish heart with an arrow through it.
Looking up from his hand tracing my eyes along his forearm to see a familiar tattoo of a snake curling around his bicep.
‘No’ I thought ‘it can’t be him. No no noo.’
He walked closer withought me realizing it and flicked me right in the forehead.
“Jake!” I grumbled “it’s bad enough we have to be soul mates do you have to be a jerk immediately?”
“Yes nerd, that’s just who I am. You should know this by now, we’ve been in school with each other for six years now.”
“Yea I know six long gruesome years…” I dragged.
“Can we just go somewhere and talk. Alone? Please?”
Was he being nice? Like actually nice.
I followed him to see where this was going and he brought me to a quiet corner of the town by the border.
“What do you need jerk…?”
“I just need you to listen. Don’t say anything until I’m done, this is hard enough to say and now was a good a time as ever. Now don’t talk.”
I sat in scilence not knowing weather or not to answer him.
“Okay. I, um, uh, ever since we met in sixth grade I thought you.. I thought you.. you were gorgeous.” He said stuttering like a mad man and his face turning a lovely shade of crimson. “You also have a personality that lights up a room as soon as you enter. That was all I needed in my life, a ray of sunshine, especially in eighth grade. Without knowing it you saved me from my darkest times. Being partnered with you and your sense of humor brightens me and my life.”
“So why do you make fun of me…”
“Because…” he sighed “I know I shouldn’t but that’s the only way I know how to show my feelings. That the more I make fun of you the more I like you.”
“So you like me?”
“No. I think I love you…”
“So when I thought that Cupid might have been assigning soul mates on a hangover I was wrong?”
That broke the moment of scilence. With a burst of chuckles from both of us.
A split second later Jake was pulling me over closer to him as we talked. I tried to act as if nothing was happening, that all changed when he gently and slowly grabbed my chin and passionately kissed me with is gorgeous lips. Furring that kids I relized that I also had feelings for him, I always had just never being able to pin point way they were. And now here we are exploring them together.
