STORY STARTER

Write a short story or poem that starts with a letter.

It can be a death threat or a love letter, a mission or a murder. It could be any letter, but make it integral to the story.

They were the epitome of our life.

They hunted us, tormenting us with letter after letter all addressed by the same person, with the same signature, style, and message. They wanted power, control, and revenge.

The wind blew at the windows, a thunderstorm evident. A bang at the window once then twice.

My head weeps to my window, right by my bed, the covered by the curtains, the tree allomanatint a figure blowing in the distance. I gripped my sheets, the comforter crinkling underneath my fingers.

“Calm down Spencer it's just the wind” A hand presses on top of mine, I look up at Emily. She crinkled her eyebrows, looking at me. I shake my head, willing myself to focus.

We were at my house, on a school night which my parents wouldn't allow, but they were out, so it was me, Emily, Aria, and Hannah.

We huddled on my bed, a letter sitting in the middle of us, one of many letters that we had received, all from the same person, A.

“What does this freak want from us,” Hannah says, combing through her hair, a sigh escaping her lips. The letters were always taunting, and always from A, threatening to spill all our secrets.

“Maybe, it's someone we know,” Emily says, looking from girl to girl, her fingers fidgeting. It was a possibility that A could be someone we knew, but we would never spill our secrets to just anyone. I look around at the girls, girls I've trusted with my life, girls who would never betray me ever, right?

I look down at the letter from A, a white piece of paper, with red writing on it, I pick up the paper, the paper crinkling beneath my fingers, examining the letter again and again like the answers will come to me if I look hard enough.

Perfect girls is what the people think

But perfect you guys are not, do you seriously think you can keep your secrets hidden for long? Not on my watch, A knows everything, even your little secrets. I'm everywhere but nowhere, don't try to find me cause it'll only make it harder for you
