POEM STARTER
Submitted by HardCoreWriter
‘If desires are a flame, then I am a wildfire.’
Use this line to inspire a poem or short story.
Wildfire
It burns
Not like in the bodice rippers
With revving hearts
And smoldering looks across a crowded room
No it’s hot as menopause or
A Fever dream
sweaty sticky damp sheet dangerous
It burns
Nothing like sappy love songs
With swoon-worthy heartthrobs
Gyrating to ear candy refrains
Nah this love is a wildfire
Burning underground fed on hidden seams
Burning for a hundred years so
Stop playing greeting card sentiments
You’ve seen the scorch marks
Feel the heat through the closed door
Ashes rain down the decades
Brimstone perfumes our steps
From lovers to forevers
We burn
