Air rushed around them, sending leaves scattering in unknown directions. Marina winced, eyes tearing from all the dust and cold air, but she keeps going. She pushed away the stone gargoyles that had been animated, her hand throbbing with forming callouses.
Ducking down, Marina grabbed the scythe from the floor. It wasn’t her favorite weapon and she wasn’t all-too-good with it, but it was the closest she could reach.
“The scythe? Against gargoyles?” Leanne scoffed, raising her hands higher. As she did, her eyes brightened to an electric yellow and the gargoyles went to attack. “I thought you were smarter than this…”
Marina grit her teeth, then smiled. Her lip was sticky with blood and her everything hurt, but she was not going to lose _again. _

Hoisting the scythe like a baseball bat, she swung and hooked the outside gargoyle. Feeling the impact, she laughed and threw all her weight into pulling it down on top of the others.
It worked, the gorgoyles tumbling down on cobblestone like dominos. She looked to Leanne and wiped the blood from her mouth. “You’re sleeping on the couch, Leanne…”
“Ha! I’m not even done.” Marina’s eyes widened as Leanne twirled a finger and three wolves made of black mist appeared.
“Oh, come on!”
