I Still Don’t Know What Proper Punctuations Are
“I think I just met the happiest person in the world!” Opti said to her brother, you could imagine love hearts floating above her head.
“She was frowning the whole time, you’re becoming delusional!” Li, her brother replied, his eyes were glued to his phone, his free hand waved her off.
Li was sat on the floor, while Opti lied on the couch. Opti met this girl Pess a while back and they’ve been really good friends until Opti started getting attracted and now she’s acting like a lovesick puppy fawning over her.
“Just because they’re frowning doesn’t mean that they’re not happy. Why are you such a downer?” Opti replied.
“I’m just trying to be realistic, someone has to give you reality checks to pull you back in the real world.” Li shrugged.
“I don’t need reality checks Li. I know that not everyone sees the world in the way that I do, I know that.” Opti replied.
Of course she did, Opti may act like a dumb happy-go-lucky-everything-is-sunshine-and-rainbows type of person at times, but she’s not dumb at all.
“Some people just can’t be happy about everything.” Li replied.
After a long pause of silence, Opti broke it.
“Do you think we can work out?” Opti asked hesitantly.
“Woah, is my happy-go-lucky sister doubting?” Li teased.
“I love her so much Li, so much that it hurts. I’m scared of chasing her away, scared of
“Hey, hey it’s okay… calm down, you’re great, who wouldn’t want to be with you? And it’s just like you said, the possibilities are endless, and not all those possibilities are bad, yeah sure a lot of possibilities are bad but that didn’t stop you from facing it with your head held up high. No matter what happened you always spring back up and that’s something not all of us can do. Don’t worry too much about it right now and just ask her out.” Li had turned around to face Opti, doing his best to console her.
“Okay… alright, yeah I can do this.” Opti said, her voice muffled by her hands. She sniffed and wiped her face. “Okay, I’ll call her.”
Opti took out her phone, dialing Pess’s number. The phone rang.
“Hi Pess, I was just wondering if you were free today? I don’t know maybe we can go to the mall together?” Opti aksed.
“I’d love to hang out but I have to babysit my little brother, maybe we can hang out here instead?” Pess asked.
“Yeah, sure anything is fine really as long as you’re there.” Opti replied.
“Great! You coming over now or later?” Pess asked.
“Before I come over I just want to tell you something and… I like you, I love you not in the friends type of way and it’s fine you never wanna see me again, I just wanted you to know…” Opti rushed her words, biting her lip dreading for whatever their reply might be.
“Oh…” Pess choked on her words, she began to cry, startling Opti.
“I’m sorry, I never should’ve said that.”Opti panicked.
“No, no it’s not- I just, I like you in that way too and I feel like this isn’t real..” Pess replied.
“No, no I’m real! I can come over now and I can prove it! I- hold on, I’ll be there! Just wait.” Opti rushed out of the house.
Opti rang the doorbell.
Pess answered the door holding her phone to her heart.
Opti hugged her “I’m real, not a dream or something I really do love you and I am actually here, no need to doubt, okay?”
Pess hugged her back “I can’t this is too good to be real! You’re joking, you’re making fun of me!”
“I’m not, I do love you! Can I kiss you?” Opti asked.
“What?? I- I don’t think I can-“ Pess stumbled on her words.
“I- no, not lips just cheeks for now?” Opti asked.
“Y-yeah sure I’d… love that.” Pess replied.
Opti gave Pess a peck on the cheek, the two lovebirds chuckled, cheeks flushed red.
They were going to work, they’ll make it work. Just the two of them, two opposites attracted to one another.
