POEM STARTER

Write a winter Pantoum.

A pantoum is a poem where each stanza is 4 lines, and the second and fourth line of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next. As this creates a lot of repetition, try to pick a winter theme that would benefit from emphasis of certain lines.

Lost Soul

The cold wind whispers in my ear, Frosty and insistent, I wonder what it is saying Pulling my scarf ever tighter, The icy wisps sneak down the back of my neck. Am I supposed to know something here? Frosty and insistent, I wonder what it is saying This wintry breeze pushing ever in to speak to my soul The icy wisps sneak down the back of my neck, Making my body shiver and respond to the call. This wintry breeze pushing ever in to speak to my soul, Singing a song only I can hear in this frozen landscape. Making my body shiver and respond to the call, The call of some unknown lost soul, lost in the tundra. Singing a song only I can hear in this frozen landscape The song so beautiful and haunting, The call of some unknown lost soul, lost in the tundra Lost and lonely and crying for warm companionship.
