No matter how hard everyone tried to close it, it wouldn’t budge. My mom said she liked it open. Because she can see the place where she was going. It made my dad want to close it even more.
I looked out the window and saw the city below and the beautiful blue sky above.
The breeze softly sounded through and carried the busy city echoes into the tiny hospital room.
This hospital room was all I knew now. We were always here. It was like we never left.
My mom shivered and I adjusted the thin film of cloth around her as well as the blanket we had brought her from home.

She was weak
She was small
She wasn’t like this before
My mom smiled at me and smiled she said, “ I love you” and turned to my brothers and said the same thing and to my dad too
We left when she fell asleep. Telling her we loved her too. We were out of the hospital when a doctor rushed to us and said something to my dad then suddenly we were running back inside.
The hospital room window was closed. That was the first thing I noticed. Then I saw my mom lifeless on the bed.
She had closed the window when she left…
