Playing with Lightning
“Is that Thor? God of thunder?”
“Nah. I know Thor. That’s not him.”
“Well, then who is he? …And who the heck are you?”
“Him? I don’t know. I suppose he’s just somebody who has a death wish. Wants to get struck by lightning or something. As for me… I’m just a guy.”
“Right. A guy who says he knows Thor. You’re probably Captain America or something.”
“Nah. But now that you mention it, that guy might be him. Steve Rogers, that is. I know him too.”
“Right. You know Captain America and Thor. Next thing, you’re going to tell me is that you’re an Avenger.”
“Huh? No. This is NOT the Marvel Universe. That guy, whether he’s Steve Roger’s or not, is gonna get struck by lightning, and we’re gonna need to call 911. I do NOT know Captain America or Thor, god of thunder, because they are both fictional characters. No. The Steve Rogers and Thor I know are brothers. They like to mess around with electricity and lightning and such, but they aren’t superheroes. They’re just nuts. Always have been. Probably always will be… See, there’s Thor. Thor Rogers. He’s carrying some sort of equipment. They’re probably trying to harness the power of the lightning. You know. To be like Ben. Ben Franklin… Hey Steve! Thor!”
“Don’t do that.”
“What?”
“Wave your hand in the air. You’re the tallest thing in this area when you do that. And I, for one, do not need to get struck by lightning.”
“Right. I didn’t think about that.”
“Besides, if you’re out in a lightning storm, you need to grab a one iron and run for cover.”
“Huh?”
“Yeah. Lee Trevino used to say, ‘Even God can’t hit a one iron.’”
